„Johan Cruyff ist der einzelne Spieler, der am meisten für die Entwicklung des Fußballspiels getan hat.“
With these words, Christoph Biermann, Chief Editor of the German football culture magazine 11Freunde, opened the 11mm cinematic homage to the late legend of Dutch football. Following an introductory discussion about the significance of Johan Cruyff for the sport, the short film “Horacio & Johan”, which tells the story of the 87-year old Catalonian photographer Horacio Segui, celebrated its world premiere. Segui is the photographic memory of FC Barcelona, and took more than 250,000 photos in and around the club during his career. In conversation with 11Freunde editor Uli Hesse, director Johan Kramer revealed that a large portion of the photographs of Johan Cruyff which he used in his film were previously unpublished.
Catalonian director Jordi Marcos joined Johan Kramer for the event. His film “L’ultim partit” about Cruyff’s meaning for Catalonian national identity also featured in this year’s festival.
The 11mm Homage to Johan Cruyff is presented with the friendly support of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Germany.
