Photos from Opening Night

The first day of the 11mm Film Festival was a great success. We started this year's festival 7 months later than originally planned, and were glad to kick it off with "Men of Hope". Directors Andreas Fröhlich and Till Derenbach, as well as the film's protagonist, Petar Segrt, inspired us all with their courage and warmth in this extraordinary film on Afghanistan's national football team and their coach.

For the first time in the football film festival's history, opening night was free of charge and available to stream online, too. Another new aspect of this year's festival: 24 films are available to stream for just €11. The offer runs until Monday night. For all those who missed opening night, "Men of Hope" will be available to stream, too!

In times of Corona, face masks were compulsory inside the cinema, and measures were taken to ensure safe distancing on-stage. Our charming host for the night was Kerstin Hermes, while festival directors Andreas Leimbach-Niaz and Christoph Gabler thanked the festival's partners for their support in making it happen this year.
