On the occasion of the war, which started in the middle of the preparations for the 11mm Football Film Festival, we are dedicating a festival focus to the "football country Ukraine" this year.
"Together with the team of the Berlin-based Ukrainian Film Festival, we have selected a total of five football films that will introduce our guests to Ukraine's rich soccer tradition and the lives of its inhabitants," explains festival director Birger Schmidt.
In addition to four films that have already been shown at 11mm in the past, we are presenting the documentary Bazyl about the player and coach Oleg Bazilevich as a German premiere. Perhaps the most poetic film of this year's festival.
The film Domashni Igri was nominated for the Golden 11 two years ago and the story of Alina touched not only juror Katrin Müller-Hohenstein back then.
Und The Other Chelsea - die Dokumentation über Shaktar Donezk - gewann 2012 bei 11mm den Publikumspreis. Wir freuen uns, dass Regisseur Jakob Preuss am Montag des Festivals zu uns kommt wird.
