In the run-up to the Women's World Cup taking place this summer, the Berlin football film festival "11mm" is celebrating the female side of football in an evening event on 26 June.
"We have put together a reel of short films for this evening, dedicated to the theme of "Women & Football" in a cheerful, sad and thoughtful way," explains 11mm festival director Birger Schmidt.
The 7 short films come from 6 different countries. A jury will select the winning film at the end of the evening. This year's jury members are:
FRIEDERIKE KEMPTER, actress
MARIËTTE RISSENBEEK, managing director of the Berlinale and thus the first woman to head the festival;
ANNKATRIN HENDEL, producer and director
TÜLIN DUMAN, queer and human rights activist
MARTIN "GOTTI" GOTTSCHILD, musician, comedian and author
ULRIKE HÄFNER, Vice President 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam
KEVIN KÜHNERT, politician
A representative of VfL Wolfsburg
There will also be live music by Ditty and a half-time talk on the state of women's football with representatives from Turbine Potsdam, Viktoria Berlin, Hertha BSC and DAZN, among others.
The host of the evening will be Inka Blumensaat (NDR).
