Just another night

Wednesday, 04 March 2015

During the festival time March 19-23 in our venue Kino Babylon Berlin-Mitte we invite you to join us watching our selection of the top 40 films out of 200 we glanced over.

Once again we also invited footballers, directors and actors as well as prominent guests and fans from all over the world. We expect a glittering festival like the one we had last year with all in all 4500 spectators sharing the joy of football and cinema.

Due to the 2015 Champions League final in Berlin this year´s festival emphasizes on films about the legendary history of the European Cup and also on a retrospective of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with the successful end from German perception.

Additional topics are films about Jewish footballers, officials and fans as well as a retrospective of the extensive work of director Johan Kramer who not only made feature films like "Johan Primero" or documentaries like "The Other Final", but also several football short films and commercials.

Birger Schmidt, one of the three festival directors, would like to see the 11mm not just being visited by "football purists". He mentions: "You could call documentaries and feature films also cultural bridges. Besides portraits of players and clubs they also deal with topics like war and dictatorship as well as human dignity and tolerance. 11mm focusses on many cultures, one ball."

This year, for the first time, the "festival child", school programme "11 minimeter" , will  take place in Filmtheater Friedrichshain (March 16-20). The winner of the audience award "Goldene 11" and the jury award for short films "11mm Shortkicks" will be announced on the last festival day, March 23.
