Brazilian films

Having traveled all from the way from Brazil, the director Luciano Perez and producer Erika Azevedo of Os boias-frias de futebol discussed the financial plight of the Brazilian third and fourth division football clubs and what the national federation can do to help. During the summer of 2014, they said, players on these clubs played without a salary and with few fans just miles from the frenzy of the World Cup. Os boias-frias de futebol was 2015 winner of the shortfilm section at Cinefoot in Brazil.

The audience was then treated to a screening of Campo de Jogo (“Sunday Ball”), which tells the story of the 2014 championship match between two favelas in Rio de Janeiro. The film is truly a piece of art, using photo-like framing and audio to capture the color and emotion of the moment.
