Just two weeks to go, the opening of the international football film festival takes place  on Thursday 30th of March. The trailer shows already a little insight into the wide variety of films that will be shown on the five days.

The festival will begin with a screening of the documentary “Like a Volcano: The Rise of Icelandic Football” about the surprise success at last year’s European Championships. The evening will be presented by Jessy Wellmer from ARD Sportschau.

Also the festival devotes a cinematic homage to Dutch football icon Johan Cruyff. Documentaries will be shown detailing the life and career of this exceptional player, who was as dear to the Dutch fans as to those of FC Barcelona, the club with whom he became the first person ever to win the European Cup as both a player and a manager.

Alongside the central location of the Kino Babylon, the City Kino in Wedding’s Centre Francais will this year, for the second time, screen our French football films, while the Filmtheater am Friedrichshain will show the 11minimeter children’s and youth programme.

More than 60 short and feature-length films from all over the world has been selected.
